Uttarakhand CM Announces 7 Major Welfare Measures For Home Guards; Focus On Leave, Nutrition AndTraining

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made seven major announcements for personnel on Home Guard Foundation Day. These include casual leave, maternity leave, a hill area allowance, and the reintroduction of a uniform allowance.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made seven major announcements for personnel on Home Guard Foundation Day. 

At the Home Guard and Civil Defence Foundation Day event on Monday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced seven major measures aimed at improving the welfare and working conditions of Home Guard personnel. 

The CM said the government is committed to making the Home Guards “stronger, more capable, and better equipped” as they continue to serve on the front lines of disaster response, rescue operations, and law and order duties.

Key Announcements

- 12 days of casual leave will now be granted to all Home Guard personnel to help them meet family and personal needs.

- Maternity leave for women Home Guards has been approved, which the Chief Minister described as a significant social reform.

- Personnel deployed in mountain regions above 9,000 feet will receive an incentive of Rs 200, similar to provisions for police and NDRF teams.

- Home Guards with SDRF training will receive an additional Rs 100 allowance.

- The uniform allowance has been reintroduced, offering regular financial support to all personnel.

- The meal allowance has been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 150 to ensure better nutrition during duty.

- The training allowance has been raised from Rs 50 to Rs 140, which the Chief Minister termed the most crucial step for capacity building.

CM Dhami said the announcements reflect the government’s gratitude for the hard work, courage, and dedication of Home Guard personnel. He assured that the state will continue strengthening policies related to their welfare, safety, and career progression.

He urged personnel to maintain their commitment to state-building, emphasising that the government is determined to enhance their role in law enforcement, disaster management, and public service with full support.
