Independence Day 2024: The big day is finally here, August 15, and celebrations, dancing, singing and even eating for some, is what Indians want to do as they are celebrating the nation’s 78th Independence Day. Amid the excitement, social media has turned into a ‘wall full of patriotism’ as people are sharing their greetings and the ways through which they are celebrating the 77th year of a free India. Among them all, a video from the UK especially stole the limelight, as it clearly displayed a unique mix of ethnicities that were solely interested in peace and harmony. The video in question was of some Indians and Pakistanis singing AR Rahman’s masterpiece ‘Jai Ho’ to commemorate the day.

With flags in their hands and smiles on their faces, people surely looked happy. As the clip went viral, people were quick to dub it unique and beautiful. Some also pointed out the ‘irony’ of Indians and Pakistanis celebrating their freedom in the UK, the country that was responsible for the ordeal that these nations faced for more than 200 years.

The video was shared on Instagram, by the handle ‘vish.music’. The post was captioned, “When Indians & Pakistanis sing together in London ‘Jai Ho’. Let’s share this video to spread love and unity. We need each other in these hard times.” The post was shared two days ago and pulled 870K likes from people.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “Divided by the UK, United in the UK,” a user said. “That Pakistanis right there feels like Elaichi in Biryani,” added a second person. “Unity is the best policy,” commented a third person. “This is just beautiful to watch. So much peace, harmony and unity,” added another.

“The irony is that these people who fought for their freedom are not proudly celebrating in a country that held their freedom for so long. The same UK is now dependent on so many Indians as well when it comes to a country having educated citizens,” added another. “Respect for all flags and this singer,” added a sixth person.
