Viral Video: Wearing a beautiful saree while flaunting it for all the obvious reasons in the streets of Japan, an Indian woman went viral on social media. Turning the pathway into her ramp, she looked gorgeous in the ethnic attire. Based on what was evidently visible in the video, commuters around her looked intrigued and somewhat awestruck as they clicked her with smiles on their faces. However, to Indians, the video instead became a point of debate over the woman opting for a ‘no blouse’ look. Although her tube top was partially visible from the back, but from the front, it appeared as if she was not wearing a blouse.
As soon as the clip went viral, some joined in raising questions about the ‘absence of the blouse’, as seen in the comments. Meanwhile, the rest advocated for her and called the look closer to ‘how Indian women used to wear sarees before colonisation’.
The video was shared on social media platform Instagram, by the handler ‘maahieway’. The post was captioned, “I wore a saree in Japan and the reactions are hilarious! I thought of wearing Indian attire on the streets of Tokyo just for fun but didn’t expect people to actually click pictures and get so shocked.”

The video, ever since it was shared, has been circulating on social media and pulled a divided reaction. Most people were more concerned about the absence of the blouse, while the rest loved the woman and her confidence.
The video was shared two days ago and pulled 550K likes from netizens. Taking to the comment section, people shared their take.
“It's good u wore a saree...but did anybody ask u not to wear a blouse?” a user said. “U forgot to wear a blouse so everyone staring at u,” added a second person. “Sister forgot to wear a blouse in a hurry while showing everyone,” added a third user.
“I don't know why people are focusing so much on ‘BLOUSE’. People do educate yourselves about our ancient clothing style. In ancient times in India women used to wear a saree ‘WITHOUT A BLOUSE’ put that in your mind. This is what it is. If you don't know about these small things then I believe you people are not even Indian,” wrote another.
“You will get the same reaction in India as well when people see a girl in a saree without a blouse and roaming on the streets with a cameraman behind her,” joined the next.
