US President Donald Trump on Wednesday threatened a strong military response against Iran after Tehran launched multiple missiles targeting American forces in the Middle East. Trump described the attack as a “surprise attack” and warned that Iran would face severe consequences.

Trump’s Explosive Warning After Iran Missile Attack

Speaking during a phone interview with Fox News, Trump said, "We're going to beat the f***ing s**t of them. We'll be hitting them hard. They're going to get a beating." His warning came after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched multiple ballistic missiles targeting a US military base in Jordan. 

Iran's 'Surprise' Attack On US Bases

The US military further said that the missiles were intercepted by US and Jordanian air defence systems before they could hit the base and no casualties were reported in the attack. In a post on X, CENTCOM said, "At 5:45 p.m. ET today, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran in an attempted surprise attack on U.S. forces based in the Middle East. All Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted. U.S. forces remain vigilant and at a high state of readiness."

Trump Keeps Door Of Diplomacy Open

Despite threatening a military response, Trump said the US still wants to resolve the crisis through diplomacy. Speaking at the White House alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump called Iran’s missile strike an “attempted surprise attack”. He warned that Tehran would face serious consequences if it continued targeting American personnel. Trump emphasised that Washington had been engaged in “good talks” with Iran but made it clear that any further attacks would see a strong US response.

Meanwhile, the US CENTCOM announced that it carried out precision strikes in Iraq on Tuesday in coordination with the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces. The operation targeted Iran-aligned groups that CENTCOM accused of being directed by IRGC to attack US forces and Saudi infrastructures.
