An airport in Florida is set to be renamed after US President Donald Trump, after a bill proposing the change was passed by the state legislature on Thursday. Trump, a real estate magnate who has emblazoned his name on buildings worldwide, has aimed to leave a lasting mark on the nation through an unprecedented campaign of branding and construction, according to Agence France-Presse report.
Florida’s Republican-controlled legislature approved a bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport as the “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” according to state records. Governor Ron DeSantis, once an opponent of Trump, is expected to sign the legislation into law.
The airport, located in Palm Beach, a town renowned for its sandy shores and opulent estates is just a few minutes from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

The renaming of the airport will also need the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration.
If approved, it would become the latest institution to bear Trump’s name.
In December, the president’s handpicked board of the Kennedy Center, an arts complex and memorial to the late President John F. Kennedy in Washington, voted to rename it the “Trump-Kennedy Center.”
US media reports indicate that Trump has also sought to rename New York’s Penn Station and Washington’s Dulles International Airport after himself, although those efforts were blocked.
