A 22-year-old Indian from Karnataka who is enrolled at the University of California, US, has been untraceable for the last four days, prompting a citywide search operation, which entered day-4 on Saturday. Saketh Sreenivasaiah hails from Karnataka and is pursuing Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

As per the authorities, Sreenivasaiah was last seen around a kilometre away from the campus before he went missing on Tuesday. A backpack containing the passport and laptop of Sreenivasaiah was found near a residence close to Tilden Regional Park, also near the campus. Officials have launched a citywide search operation. On the other hand, community members and Sreenivasaiah’s friends have mobilised online.

Expressing concern about the missing student, the Indian consulate in San Francisco stated that it was in touch with family members and the local authorities.

“Consulate General of India in San Francisco is deeply concerned about the disappearance of Saketh Sreenivasaiah, an Indian post-graduate student of UC Berkeley, hailing from the State of Karnataka. The Consulate is in touch with the family and also is in contact with the concerned local authorities to locate the student. @MEAIndia @IndianEmbassyUS,” the post read.

Saketh Sreenivasaiah is an alumnus of India’s leading science institute, IIT Madaras and is enrolled in a master's degree at Berkeley.

“I'm a Masters student in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering department at UC Berkeley, with an undergraduate degree from IIT Madras. I'm passionate about deep-tech innovations in soft and active materials, semiconductors, and advanced materials,” Saketh describes himself as on his LinkedIn.
