US Israel Iran War LIVE: Iran Postpones 3-Day State Funeral For Late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei

US Iran Israel War Updates: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's son Mojtaba Khamenei has emerged as the top contender for the post of Supreme Leader of Iran. While an official announcement is awaited, reports say his election is final and comes under pressure from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as US-Israel wage a war against the West Asian nation. Ali Khamenei, Iran's leader and a prominent Shia Muslim cleric, was killed in US-backed Israeli strikes on Saturday, February 28. With his death, the nation plunged into a crisis, amid an ongoing war.
The US is considering extending its support to Iranian rebel groups, including the Kurdish militia, which seek to overthrow the Islamic regime in Iran. US President Donald Trump is reportedly in touch with the Kurds and is also considering arms support to the militia.
The war, which began after Israel launched "pre-emptive strikes" on Iran, entered its fifth day today. Several key leaders, including Iran's defence minister, IRGC commander, Chief of Staff of armed forces, were killed in the US-Israel strikes. Iran hit back with missile strikes against US military bases in the Middle East and Israeli assets across the region.
