Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday issued a sharp warning to Israel, emphasising that Tehran would not tolerate any attack on its leadership or citizens. His remarks came after Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz reportedly made threats against Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

Iran’s Warning To Israel

In a post on X, Araghchi warned Israel that Iran will not tolerate any actions targeting its leaders or population. He noted that under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, United States President Donald Trump has committed to “muzzling its pets in Tel Aviv.” However, he warned that if this does not happen, Iran would respond strongly to any threat against its leadership or citizens.

He added that Iran expects the US to control its allies under the agreement. “The terms of the Islamabad MoU are crystal clear and public for all to see. POTUS has committed the U.S. to muzzling its pets in Tel Aviv. If they ignore their master, Iran will school them. Any threat against our People and Leadership will receive Immediate Powerful Response,” Araghchi wrote.

Israel's ‘Marked For Death’ Remark

The warning came after the Israeli Defence Minister reportedly said that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was “marked for death.” Katz also said Israel would continue to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, even if diplomatic agreements are reached.

Earlier in the day, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf claimed that Tehran has a sovereign and “divine” right over the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasised that Iran can regulate the waterway and impose transit fees.

Iran-US Talks In Doha

Meanwhile, the US and Iran held technical discussions in Doha today. The talks aimed at resolving disputes over shipping through the Strait and maintaining a ceasefire for a permanent settlement. The talks follow behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts involving US officials Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, who met Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani ahead of negotiations. Qatar and Pakistan are acting as mediators in the process.
