Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) on Sunday reacted to US President Donald Trump's ultimatum, threatening to shut the Strait of Hormuz completely.
In an official statement, the IRGC said that if Trump executes his warning to "obliterate" Iran's power plants, the strait would be closed completely.
Additionally, the Iranian force warned that it will completely destroy companies with US shares and would consider every energy facility in the countries with established US bases a lawful target.
"If Trump Executes Threats To Target Iran's Energy Facilities, Energy Facilities In Countries That Host US Bases Will Be 'Lawful' Targets," the IRGC said.
Earlier, Trump had warned that the US would obliterate Iranian power plants if it did not open the strait within 48 hours.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump had said, "If Iran doesn't fully open, without threat, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 hours from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various power plants, starting with the biggest one first!"
Trump's threat drew sharp reactions not from the IRGC alone but from the country's parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who threatened to "irreversibly destroy" critical infrastructure and energy facilities in the Middle East in retaliation.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf said, "Immediately after the power plants and infrastructure in our country are targeted, the critical infrastructure, energy infrastructure, and oil facilities throughout the region will be considered legitimate targets and will be destroyed in an irreversible manner, and the price of oil will remain high for a long time. And throw down what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have made."
