The annual ‘laziest person’ contest is being held in northern Montenegro’s Brezna Village. The bizarre competition, which kicked off last month, initially started with 21 participants and now has only seven persons left. The person with the longest bedtime will be declared the winner of the contest, Metro reported. The competition sees contestants lying down on a mat for almost 24 hours a day.
Sitting and standing are considered a violation and the respective person will be immediately disqualified from the game. However, ten minutes are given every eight hours as a toilet break. They are also allowed to use cell phones and laptops to keep them occupied.

Last year’s winner had set a record of lying down for 117 hours, but this year seven persons are still in the game as it entered its 26th day. A grand cash price of $1,070 (approximately ₹88,000) is set for the winner of the game.
The organiser of the event, Radonja Blagojevic, said it was launched 12 years ago over a myth that people of Montenegrins were lazy. ''We organized this lying-down competition as a parody, playing on the stereotype that Montenegrins are lazy, to see who can endure it the longest. Currently, there are seven contestants out of the 21 who applied this year,” Blagojevic said.
As the contest unfolds, contestants' health remains good, and they enjoy creature comforts while adhering to the strict rules of the game.
