Nepali media reports say Gen Z protest leaders and political groups have reached a consensus to appoint former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the head of an interim government.

The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority on Wednesday announced that Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport will reopen from today, lifting the suspension of flights imposed due to adverse circumstances.

In an official statement, the authority said, "We hereby inform that the flights suspended due to adverse circumstances would now be lifted, which has been made in accordance with the decision of the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Committee meeting held today. Passengers traveling to the airport for flights are requested to contact their respective airline companies for flight information and to bring official airline tickets and identification documents with them when traveling."

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Real Time Governance (RTG), Nara Lokesh, has taken charge of coordinating rescue operations for Telugu citizens stranded across various regions of the neighbouring country. Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday reached the Real Time Governance (RTG) Center at the State Secretariat and held a review meeting with senior officials. AP Bhavan authorities briefed him on the ground situation, informing him that as many as 215 Telugu people have been reported stranded so far.

Taking serious note of the situation, Minister Lokesh directed officials to initiate measures on a war footing to ensure the safe return of those trapped. He instructed that immediate relief must be extended, stranded people should be shifted to safer locations, and regular updates should be provided. "Updates on their safety and well-being must be collected every two hours," the minister told officials during the meeting.

The Rajasthan Police has set up a special cell to provide round-the-clock assistance for people from the state stranded in Nepal and to coordinate relief efforts. The unrest has disrupted transport and air services, leaving hundreds of Indians, including nearly 200 passengers from Jaipur, stranded at the Kathmandu airport.

The group of 200 passengers from Jaipur and nearby villages had left on August 28 for a Yatra. After visiting the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, they reached the airport on Sunday, but violent protests and curfew brought transport and flights to a halt.

At least 39 people from Karnataka have been stranded in the conflict-ridden Nepal. "Kannadigas stranded in Nepal are safe. The Chief Secretaries of the state government and the Resident Commissioner of Karnataka Bhavan in Delhi are in touch with the Kannadigas through various teams," the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) stated.

During the operations, Rs 3.37 lakh in cash, along with 31 weapons, magazines and bullets, were recovered from individuals in Chabahil, Bauddha and Gaushala areas of Kathmandu. The Nepal Army on Wednesday imposed nationwide restrictive orders followed by a curfew to quell possible violence under the guise of protest, a day after deadly anti-government demonstrations forced Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli's resignation, leaving key buildings in flames and the nation on edge.The restrictive orders are in effect throughout the country from morning to 5 pm, and then a curfew will be in place until 6 am on Thursday, the army said in a statement.The army, which took control of nationwide security operations at 10 pm on Tuesday, warned that any form of demonstrations, vandalism, arson, or attacks on individuals and property during the restrictive period would be treated as criminal acts and dealt with accordingly.

According to The Himalayan Times, twenty-seven individuals involved in looting, arson, and other violent acts during the ongoing Gen Z-led protests across Nepal, Kathmandu, have been arrested by the Nepalese Army. The arrests were made between 10 pm on Tuesday and 10 am on Wednesday, as a nationwide deployment of forces was made to manage the ongoing protests. Security personnel also deployed three fire trucks to extinguish fires set during the unrest.

The crisis reached a peak with the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Ram Chandra Paudel, leaving a constitutional void in the Himalayan country.

The Andhra Pradesh government has established an Emergency Cell at Andhra Bhavan in New Delhi to assist Telugu-speaking citizens stranded in Nepal amid ongoing civil unrest. AP Bhavan Commissioner Arja Srikanth said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to provide all necessary support and coordinate with Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has assured full cooperation, he added. According to officials, about 30 Telugu nationals in Bafal, Kathmandu are currently being assisted with food, medical care, and accommodation. Some Telugu families staying in a Kathmandu hotel were shifted to a safer guest house after agitators gathered nearby and threatened arson.

From early Wednesday morning, army troops fanned out across Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and other major cities, enforcing strict restrictions and restoring a semblance of calm. The Nepali Army assumed command of nationwide security operations from 10 pm on Tuesday following violent clashes that destroyed government buildings and targeted senior politicians’ residences. “We have deployed our troops to prevent any untoward incidents, including looting and vandalism,” said an officer from the Nepal Army headquarters. “Our primary focus is to protect lives, public property, and national institutions,” he added while stating this to local media.

In an official statement cited by The Himalayan Times, the President urged all sides to remain calm and resolve differences without further bloodshed or destruction. “In a democracy, the demands raised by citizens can be addressed through dialogue and negotiation,” he said.

Bangladesh issued a strong advisory for its nationals in Nepal, asking them to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement as violent anti-government protests continue to rock the Himalayan nation. In a late-night statement, the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry urged all Bangladeshi citizens living in or currently visiting Nepal to stay at their residences or hotels until further notice. It also advised inbound travellers to defer flights to Nepal due to the deteriorating security situation. Officials confirmed that around 100 Bangladeshis, including the 36-member national football team and a 51-member delegation from the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) on a study tour, are stranded in Kathmandu. Their scheduled activities have been cancelled in view of the unrest. The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu reported receiving more than 350 calls from citizens seeking information on flight operations and safety measures. According to estimates, nearly 500 passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines are currently in Nepal, awaiting rescheduling of flights.

Russia on Tuesday expressed concern over the escalating unrest in Nepal, urging all sides to seek a peaceful resolution to the political crisis that has left at least 19 people dead. In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Moscow is “closely monitoring the situation which transformed from mass street protests into mass rioting with casualties.” It called for the crisis to be addressed strictly within the framework of Nepal’s national laws and expressed hope for a “speedy normalisation of the situation in the friendly country.”

The ministry confirmed that, based on available information, no Russian nationals have been injured or killed in the violence. It also noted that the situation around the Russian Embassy in Kathmandu remains calm. As a precaution, Russian citizens have been advised to temporarily avoid travelling to Nepal until stability returns. The advisory comes as demonstrations by Gen Z protesters against corruption and restrictions on social media spiralled into violent clashes with security forces, prompting the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and deployment of the Nepal Army.

We are fighting against it every day. Many of my friends were shot and killed on the spot. I carried some of them on my shoulders and took them to the hospital. The situation here is getting worse. We just want an anti-corruption government. Our current government is deeply corrupt. We want to change it. You can see the conditions here so many young people are dying every day. The youth of Nepal are suffering, and the situation is extremely critical."

The government, in response, has imposed an indefinite curfew in Kathmandu city, and banned all protests, mass gatherings, meetings and assemblies. The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday issued a travel advisory for its citizens where it urged Indian nationals to refrain from travelling the neighbouring country amid massive protests. "We are closely monitoring the developments in Nepal since yesterday and are deeply saddened by the loss of many young lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with families of deceased. We also wish speedy recovery for those who were injured. As a close friend and neighbour, we hope that all concerned will excercise restraint and address any issues through peaceful means and dialogue. We have also taken note that authorities have imposed curfew in Kathmandu and several other cities of Nepal. Indian nationals in Nepal are advised to exercise caution and adhere to the steps and guidelines issued by the Nepali authorities," said MEA.

Nepal Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has resigned from his post. Adhikari quit the post on Tuesday.
