United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday (local time) faced an interruption during a rally in Chillicothe, Ohio, when a protester shouted about his past connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He responded sharply to the remarks, claiming that he had ended his association with Epstein years ago by removing him from his Florida club. Trump’s statement has renewed attention on his past relationship with Epstein as he continues to face scrutiny over it.
Trump Responds Angrily To Protester
The moment came as Trump was addressing supporters at the Ohio event ahead of the US midterm elections, scheduled for November 3. After the protester raised Epstein's name, security personnel escorted him out of the rally. Trump dismissed the protester as a political opponent and accused him of following the approach of the radical left. He then went on to repeat his claim that he had thrown Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida around 25 years ago.
Trump On Throwing Epstein Out
"I threw Jeffrey Epstein out of a club 25 years ago because I thought he was a whack job..That was a great thing I did, I must say," Trump said. Trump added he had considered Epstein a deeply troubling person and presented the decision to remove him as the right thing to do. He also emphasised that Epstein had not travelled with him in the way some people had suggested. Trump even tried to associate Epstein with Democratic figures, claiming that he had connections with them.
While he seems to corner himself from Epstein, their past association and the circumstances surrounding their eventual falling-out remain debatable. Trump and Epstein were part of overlapping social circles in New York and Palm Beach during the 1990s and early 2000s. In a 2002 interview with New York magazine, Trump called Epstein a terrific person and discussed his interest in women, including younger women.

Trump's Relationship With Epstein
Several records also show that Trump travelled on Epstein's private aircraft several times during the 1990s. According to PolitiFact, flight logs released during the 2021 trial of Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell documented seven such trips.
Earlier, Trump had offered different explanations for why his relationship with Epstein ended. In July 2025, he told reporters that Epstein had repeatedly recruited employees from the spa at Mar-a-Lago without his permission.
