US President Donald Trump on Thursday (local time) got into a heated exchange with a reporter after being asked about his health and his decision to cancel two planned campaign rallies ahead of the US midterm elections. While rejecting suggestions that he was unwell due to campaign events, Trump criticised the reporter and commented on his physical appearance.

Trump Snaps At Reporter Over Health Question

The moment occurred when the reporter asked Trump whether his decision to skip a planned rally in Kansas was linked to his health or exhaustion from travelling across the country. The US President strongly dismissed the suggestion and emphasised that he was feeling completely fine. He then turned his attention towards the reporter, calling his question inappropriate and making personal remarks about his appearance.

He told the reporter that he did not look well and must improve his fitness. “Oh, you're sick to ask that question. You are sick,” he said. When the reporter tried to explain that he was simply asking about his health, Trump continued to criticise him. “Look at this guy. He's way out of shape …I've been following me for two weeks. I feel perfect…You are disgusting. Put yourself in shape. You look like hell,” Trump added.

The exchange came after the Republican National Committee (RNC) announced changes to two planned in-person campaign events in Kansas and Iowa. Instead of holding the rallies as scheduled, the party said Trump would take part in virtual campaign events, known as telerallies.

Trump's Health In Focus

Trump's remarks to the reporter also come at a time when his health has been under public scrutiny for several months. Questions about his physical condition, including bald patches, bruised hands, and strange posters have continued to draw attention. Earlier in May, a medical report described Trump as being in excellent health. Trump's doctor said that the President had strong heart, lung and neurological functions and was physically fit to perform his duties as the US President.

The report also stated that Trump was 75 inches tall and weighed 238 pounds, marking a 14-pound increase from his previous medical examination in April 2025. His body mass index (BMI) was recorded at 29.7, which falls within the overweight category and is close to the obesity range.
