Dubai: Dubai is preparing to introduce a unique tourist attraction in the form of a 24-carat gold walkway, which is expected to open before the end of 2026. The project, planned for the Dubai Gold District, aims to strengthen the emirate’s reputation as a leading global destination for gold trading and jewellery.
According to Dubai Gold District officials, the walkway is expected to open within the next two months. The attraction is being promoted as the world’s first and longest walkway of its kind, offering residents and tourists a distinctive experience of walking along a golden pathway, Gulf News reported.
Rashid Al Harmoodi, Senior Director of Commercial at Dubai Gold District, said the project would introduce a new tourism experience while enhancing Dubai's appeal as an international hub for gold and jewellery.
Dubai Gold District Sees Business Growth
The announcement comes as Dubai Gold District continues to expand its retail and wholesale operations. Since the beginning of 2026, the district has recorded a 20 per cent increase in newly operational wholesale gold trading offices. The number of new shops selling gold, jewellery, precious stones and luxury watches has also grown by 15 per cent.

Officials expect the number of companies relocating to the district to increase by 10 to 20 per cent next year, supported by the development of additional office and retail spaces.
The district is also planning a new exhibition facility intended to become the Middle East’s largest exhibition space dedicated to gold and jewellery trading.
Dubai Sets New Guinness World Records For Gold Earrings
The announcement of the gold walkway coincided with another milestone for Dubai’s jewellery industry. Joyalukkas Jewellery has secured two Guinness World Records for the heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of earrings in the world.
Named “Sahasra Mile,” meaning “A Thousand Peacocks,” the earrings feature a traditional Indian hanging design known as jhumkas. Made from 22-carat gold, the handcrafted pair weighs 16.514 kilograms and took several months of skilled craftsmanship to complete.
The design draws inspiration from the peacock, a symbol associated with beauty, grace and pride in Indian culture.
UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri unveiled the earrings at a Joyalukkas showroom in Dubai Gold District on October 24, 2026. Guinness World Records representatives subsequently presented certificates recognising the two achievements.
Record-Breaking Jewellery To Remain On Display
Joyalukkas Group Chairman Joy Alukkas confirmed that the earrings would not be offered for sale. Instead, the pair will be preserved as a work of art and displayed permanently in Dubai, giving residents and international visitors an opportunity to view the record-breaking creation.
With the proposed gold walkway, expanding jewellery businesses and internationally recognised gold creations, Dubai Gold District is seeking to attract more visitors while reinforcing Dubai’s position as a major global centre for gold and jewellery trading.
