Pakistan witnessed an 83 per cent increase in violence-linked fatalities during the third quarter of 2026, marking the country's sharpest escalation in violent incidents since 2021.
According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) cited by Dawn, the increase reversed a declining trend observed over the first two quarters of the year. In total, the report recorded at least 1,415 deaths and 558 injuries among civilians, security personnel, and outlaws across 385 violent incidents.

Balochistan And Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Account For 98% Of Fatalities
Balochistan: The province emerged as the worst-hit region in Pakistan during the third quarter, accounting for nearly 59 per cent of all national fatalities. Balochistan recorded 829 deaths, a 213 per cent rise from the 265 deaths recorded in Q2. The province also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 186 cases representing over 48 per cent of the national total.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Reported 556 fatalities (over 39 per cent of the national total), marking a 17 per cent increase from 475 deaths in Q2 across 173 incidents (nearly 45 per cent of the total).
Together, the two provinces accounted for 98 per cent of all fatalities recorded during the period.
Outlaw Fatalities Double Following Security Operations
The report showed that outlaws accounted for more than 65 per cent of the total deaths, with 921 fatalities recorded following nearly 154 security operations. Outlaw deaths more than doubled from the 453 casualties reported in the second quarter.
