A shocking mid-air accident in the Austrian Alps almost turned deadly when a sightseeing plane crashed into a paraglide high above the mountains. The spine-chilling moment was caught on camera and has now gone viral on social media. Many users are calling the woman’s survival a miracle.
Plane Tears Through Woman’s Parachute
According to the New York Post report, the incident happened near Schmittenhohe mountain in northern Austria on Saturday afternoon. A 44-year-old woman named Sabrina was paragliding over the scenic area when a small aircraft suddenly appeared above her. In the footage, the plane can be seen cutting straight through her paraglider canopy within seconds.
The collision badly damaged the wing, causing her to spin uncontrollably in the air as torn fabric wrapped around her. As she rapidly lost height, Sabrina tried to stay calm and regain control. She then managed to deploy her emergency parachute just before crashing onto the mountainside. Rescue teams later airlifted Sabrina by police helicopter and took her for treatment. As per reports, she survived the crash with only minor injuries.
Pilot Also Safe
The pilot of the aircraft also landed safely at Zell am See Airport. Authorities said the pilot claimed there was “no way” he could have avoided the paraglider. After the incident, Sabrina shared an emotional message on Instagram, saying she still could not believe she was alive and able to talk about the experience.
