Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has criticised the Muhammad Yunus-led government in Bangladesh for increasing atrocities against Hindus and minorities, as well as the arrest of Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das. Hasina demanded Das' immediate release and warned that if the Yunus government fails to punish those responsible for these human rights violations, it too will face consequences.
In a statement, Hasina said, "A temple has been burnt in Chittagong. Previously, mosques, shrines, churches, monasteries and homes of the Ahmadiyya community were attacked, vandalised looted and set on fire. Religious freedom and security of life and property of people of all communities should be ensured,”
Sheikh Hasina further warned the government of the consequences if justice is not served for human rights violations, emphasising that those responsible for such crimes must be punished. She urged citizens to unite against violence and insecurity, stressing the importance of protecting the lives and property of ordinary people and criticising the current government's failure in various areas.
“I appeal to the countrymen; everyone should stand against this kind of terror. Stand united. It is important to ensure the safety of life and property of common people. The present power grabbers are showing failure in every field," she added.
Sheikh Hasina Condemns Lawyer's Murder In Chittagong
Sheikh Hasina condemned the killing of a lawyer during police clashes in Chittagong, calling it a gross violation of human rights. She demanded that those responsible for the murder be quickly identified and punished, labelling the perpetrators as terrorists.
“A lawyer has been killed in Chittagong, I strongly protest this murder. Those involved in this murder should be found and punished quickly. Human rights have been grossly violated through this incident. A lawyer went to perform his professional duties, and those who beat him to death were terrorists. Whoever they are must be punished," she said.
