A powerful explosion was heard in Eastern Tehran Province on Saturday, just hours after US President Donald Trump issued a warning of a massive military response against the Islamic Republic. As the sudden blasts sparked concern, Iranian media downplayed the incident, saying that the explosions were a part of controlled disposal of ammunition remaining from the war.

According to Reuters, official sources confirmed that there were no casualties reported in the blast. Earlier on Saturday, Iranian state media reported that explosions were heard in eastern Tehran. Residents of Pakdasht and Qiamdasht reported hearing explosions, but the exact location and cause of the blasts were not immediately known.

Trump's Stern Warning

US President Donald Trump,on Friday, issued a stern warning to Iran, claiming that the US military would "completely decimate and destroy all areas" of the Islamic Republic if its leaders attempted to try or execute his assassination.

Sharing a hard-hitting post on social media late Friday that "1,000 missiles are locked and loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to immediately follow should the Iranian government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!"

Orders have already been given, and the US military is ready, willing, and able for a one-year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran—praise be to Allah!" he added.

Trump's threats come after chants calling for assassination were heard at the funeral of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, highlighting the emerging tensions in the Middle East as a fragile interim ceasefire continues to come under strain, AP reported.

According to a Bloomberg report, Trump has been the target of several assassination attempts. In the 2024 presidential election, he was briefed by Biden administration officials regarding “real and specific threats from Iran” to kill him, his campaign said.
