Thailand School Shooting: At least seven people were killed and several others injured after a student opened fire at a school in Thailand before turning the gun on himself. The incident took place on Friday at the Debsirin Nonthaburi School on the northwestern outskirts of Bangkok. The attacker reportedly fired 26 rounds, while another 34 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the scene.

Suspect Among Seven Killed

According to a Reuters report citing Lieutenant Colonel Trirong Phophan, a spokesman for the National Police, the suspect was among the seven people (three teachers, three students) killed, while fifteen others were injured. Investigators believe that the student might have taken the gun from a family member. The motive behind the attack is under investigation.

Several eyewitnesses described the tragic incident to Reuters. An 18-year-old student said he initially thought there were firecrackers going off or someone banging an object. He said, “I didn't think it was a gun at first…There were many shots: bang bang bang. Then it went quiet. Then it started again." Pictures from the aftermath of the scene showed teachers hugging each other and crying.

Students Duck Under Benches

Images shared by emergency responders also showed students leaving the school premises as ambulances arrived at the scene. One photograph showed an injured person being taken on a stretcher outside an ambulance, while another person received medical assistance. A video has also emerged online showing the students ducking under their desks as gunshots rang out in the background.

Education Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong confirmed that both teachers and students were among those reported dead and the police have identified a ninth grade student as the attacker. According to district authorities, the school had an enrollment of around 3,100 students and 147 teachers in the 2025 academic year. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed grief over the incident, calling it unacceptable. He also highlighted concerns over firearm access in Thailand.
