Iran-US Tensions: The conflict between the United States and Iran has intensified after a fragile ceasefire collapsed. The US on Saturday carried out strikes on Iranian military targets for the seventh consecutive night, further escalating tensions in the region. In response, Iran launched attacks on American-linked military facilities in Gulf countries and issued fresh warnings to nations hosting US troops, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
Iran Targets US-Linked Sites In Kuwait And Bahrain
According to news agency Reuters report, Iran launched renewed attacks on US allies in the Gulf, targeting military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain. In Kuwait, repeated missile and drone threats disrupted operations at Kuwait International Airport, while a desalination plant was also hit. Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRCG) claimed they struck a US military support centre at Camp Arifjan and destroyed a radar facility at Ali Al Salem Air Base.
Iran Warns Countries Hosting US Troops
As reported by Iranian state media, the Revolutionary Guards also targeted a site where US combat aircraft were gathered at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, along with an intelligence data centre. Iran further warned countries hosting US military forces that they should prepare for a possible response. According to Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC said the host nations should “activate their civil defence units to protect their citizens and move them away from potential military targets.”
Additionally, the IRGC Navy said it is monitoring US military movements and equipment in the region. The statement said by the command read: "The Americans are drawing closer by the moment to the zero hour of an operation by Iran’s Armed Forces against CENTCOM naval units in the region’s waters." It concluded with the warning: "Wait and see."
US Completes Seventh Straight Night Of Strikes
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the US military has completed its seventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran. In a post on X, CENTCOM said, "US forces employed fighter aircraft, aerial drones, and warships, in addition to other assets, to hit surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities."
Trump Considers Expanding Military Campaign
Amid these developments, an Axios report claims that US President Donald Trump is considering expanding military operations against Iran. The report states that Trump reviewed several military options during a Situation Room meeting, including widening the campaign beyond current operations around the Strait of Hormuz and targeting key infrastructure and nuclear-related facilities inside Iran. However, Axios, citing US and Israeli officials, added that Trump has not made a final decision yet.
According to Axios, the options under consideration include strikes on Iranian power plants and additional attacks on the country's nuclear facilities to make its enriched uranium stockpile more difficult to access. Another possible target is the underground Pickaxe Mountain site, which is believed to still be under construction.
The report further states that the US is preparing to deploy dozens of additional aerial refuelling aircraft to Israel. According to Axios, around 30 US refuelling aircraft are currently stationed at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv and a similar number at Ramon Airport in southern Israel. Israeli officials told Axios that Washington plans to restore the fleet to roughly the level maintained at the beginning of the conflict.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran against attacking Israel. Warning Iran, he said, “I can tell you only one thing, and I will say this to the leaders of Iran: Do not count on it being quiet if you attack us." Netanyahu added, “Do not count on a rerun. Because it will not be a rerun, and that was already powerful enough. This will be a different event, much more powerful."
