The United States has significantly increased its military presence in the Middle East as tensions with Iran continue to escalate, with around 3,500 marines and sailors arriving in the region aboard the USS Tripoli, US Central Command confirmed.

The forces, which reached the CENTCOM area of responsibility on March 27, are part of a broader deployment to expand Washington’s military options amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.

US officials have not publicly disclosed specific missions for the newly arrived troops, but the buildup reflects efforts to bolster regional security and readiness as the situation continues to unfold. 

Houthis fired a second missile at Israel on Saturday, which was intercepted, according to an Israeli security official.

Israel conducted airstrikes on multiple towns in southern Lebanon on Saturday, according to Lebanese state media, amid ongoing exchanges of attacks between Israel and Hezbollah. 

Lebanon’s National News Agency reported a “series of strikes” at dawn on Majdal Selm, followed by “successive strikes” on Kafra, Hanniyeh, Touline, and Adloun. Additional Israeli strikes reportedly hit Nabatiyeh, damaging residential and commercial buildings as well as a fuel station.

The Israeli military announced on Saturday that it had struck an industrial complex in Tehran used for the research and development of naval weapons.

"The IDF struck the headquarters of the Iranian terrorist regime's Marine Industries Organisation," AFP quoted the military.

"This headquarters is responsible for the research, development, and production of a wide range of naval weaponry, including surface and sub-surface vessels, manned and unmanned equipment, as well as engines and weapons," the statement added.

An Israeli strike in southern Lebanon on Saturday killed three journalists, according to Iran’s media outlets and a Lebanese military source, while Israel claimed one of the victims was a Hezbollah member.

The incident occurred amid ongoing Israeli raids in the region, with Hezbollah reporting that it had targeted Israeli forces entering border villages.

The number of American troops injured in the ongoing Iran conflict has surpassed 300, with over two dozen wounded this week alone following attacks on a Saudi air base, AP reports. 

On Friday, Iran launched six ballistic missiles and 29 drones targeting Saudi Arabia’s Prince Sultan air base, leaving at least 15 personnel injured, five of them seriously, according to sources briefed on the situation. Earlier reports from US officials had stated that at least 10 American troops were wounded, including two with serious injuries. 

The United States Central Command released a video on Saturday allegedly showing strikes on Iranian naval ships, stating, “For decades, Iranian naval vessels have threatened and harassed global shipping in regional waters, but those days are over.”

US President Donald Trump created an awkward moment for Saudi officials by seemingly mocking Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his speech at a recent Saudi-backed investment forum. Trump suggested that officials should tell the Crown Prince to “be nice” to him and made a provocative remark implying that the Saudi leader had underestimated him.

“He did not think this was going to happen. He didn’t think he would be kissing my a**; he really didn’t. And now he has to be nice to me. He better be nice to me,” Trump said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Crown Prince HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday to discuss the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which has been continuing for over a month.

During the conversation, PM Modi reiterated that India strongly condemns attacks on energy infrastructure in the region. Sharing details of the call on X, the PM said, “spoke with Crown Prince and PM of Saudi Arabia, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman and discussed the ongoing conflict in West Asia. An Israeli airstrike on a media vehicle in southern Lebanon killed at least two journalists on Saturday, according to reports from Al-Manar TV.

Hezbollah-run Al-Manar TV said its correspondent Ali Shoeib was among those killed, while Beirut-based Al-Mayadeen TV reported that its journalist Fatima Ftouni also died in the same strike.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has rejected Iran’s claim that it destroyed a Ukrainian air-defence depot in Dubai.

Two more merchant vessels carrying petroleum products for India are crossing Strait of Hormuz. Indian Navy warships are on standby to provide support to them, sources told ANI.

Oman's Salalah Port came under drones attack on Saturday, leaving one worker injured, state news agency reported.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have declared readiness for direct military intervention if "American-Israeli aggression" against Iran and the "Axis of Resistance"groups continues to escalate.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Saturday said that Iran had reported new strikes on key facilities, including the heavy water production plant at Khondab. The agency noted that there is no radiation risk from the strike.

The IRGC, in a statement today, refuted the Trump administration's claims, asserting that the shipping route remains under a blockade.

The attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab was neither a mere accident nor a miscalculation. The contradictory statements made by the United States to justify this crime cannot absolve them of their responsibility," he said.
