In one video circulated through the group’s official media channel, Hakkal, the BLA identified a woman fighter as Hawa Baloch, also known by the alias Droshum. The footage purportedly shows her firing at Pakistani security personnel during what the group calls Phase Two of Operation Herof at the Gwadar Front.

“During Operation Herof, Phase Two at the Gwadar Front, Fidayee Hawa Baloch fought selflessly, shoulder to shoulder with fellow fidayeen. This was her final message, sent twelve hours before her death,” the group said in a statement accompanying the clip.

Who Was Hawa Baloch?

According to the BLA, Hawa Baloch was a writer, and her father was associated with the Baloch armed movement. Media reports have identified her as a Gen Z woman who had received a formal education before joining the insurgency. Her father was reportedly killed by Pakistani security forces in 2021.

Asifa Mengal And VBIED Attack

The BLA also identified 23-year-old Asifa Mengal as another female fidayeen. The group claimed she carried out a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) attack on January 31, targeting the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) headquarters in Noshki district. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif later confirmed that at least two of the recent attacks involved women perpetrators.

BLA Releases Separate Video Of Senior Fighter

In a separate video, the militant group featured Nako Fazal Baloch, described as the “eldest Baloch fidayee” of the organisation. In the footage, he urges the Baloch population to support the insurgency, portraying the attacks as part of a broader resistance against Pakistani forces. 

Pakistan’s military said it launched extensive counter-operations following the attacks, claiming that 92 separatists were killed on Saturday and 41 on Friday.

The BLA acknowledged losses within its own ranks, stating that 18 of its fighters were killed during the operation. These included 11 suicide attackers from the Majeed Brigade, four fighters from the Fateh Squad, and three members of the STOS unit.
