On the occasion of Eid, the people of Kashmir raised charity to help Iranians, donating everything from children's piggy bank savings to women's jewellary. In response, Iran posted on X stating, "The people of Iran will never forget this." But now all those thanking posts are vanished.

The Vanishing Sacrifice: A Widow’s 30-Year Memento Deleted

One notable story that has now vanished involved a Kashmiri woman who made a deeply personal sacrifice for the cause. She had donated jewelry she had kept for 30 years, the final memento of her late husband to support Iran's relief efforts.

The Iranian Embassy in India highlighted a particularly moving story on X last week. Embassy posted "A respected sister from Kashmir, donated the gold kept as a memento of her husband who passed away 28 years ago with a heart full of love and solidarity for the people of #Iran.

Your tears and pure emotions are the greatest source of comfort for the people of Iran and will never be forgotten".

Iran Deleted Posts After Facing Online Backlashes

This sudden removal follows significant online backlash, primarily from users in Pakistan, who took issue with the embassy’s posts portraying Kashmir as an integral part of India. These users argued that Kashmir is a disputed territory and should not be identified as part of India, with some even demanding a formal apology and a correction of the mission's stance. To avoid further controversy, the embassy appears to have quietly retracted its statements thanking India and the "kind people of Kashmir" for their aid.

While the embassy’s follow-up posts continued to feature Iranian state media content thanking the Kashmiri people, they notably excluded any mention of India.
