Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash this morning in Pune's Baramati, sending a shockwave across the country. The authorities informed that along with Pawar, four other individuals also died in the tragedy. The flight was carrying pilot Sumit Kapoor, co-pilot Shambhavi Pathak, and two of Pawar's staff members, Vidip Jadhav and Pinky Mali. While the exact reasons behind the incident are not revealed yet, the eyewitnesses stated that the visibility was severely affected due to the fog.

Plane Crash: Who Were On Board

The authorities informed that along with Ajit Pawar, his personal security officer, Vidip Jadhav, pilot Sumit Kapoor, co-pilot Shambhavi Pathak, and Pinky Mali, Pawar's staff member, also died in the crash. Captain Shambhavi Pathak was serving at a Delhi-based air transport operator of the Learjet 45, the aircraft involved in the crash. As per her LinkedIn profile, she completed her pilot and flight crew training at the New Zealand International Commercial Pilot Academy. Pathak also completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautics from the University of Mumbai.

Captain Sumit Kapoor was more experienced of the two and was responsible for leading the crew during takeoff and landing. While Captain Kapoor had over 16,000 hours of flying experience, co-pilot Pathak had around 1,500 hours of experience. While providing details, VSR Aviation’s top official, VK Singh, stated that both the pilots were Delhi-based and had extensive flying experience.

“Primarily, it appears there was no visibility. The pilot made an approach to the runway, carried out a missed approach, and then made another attempt. If a pilot cannot see the runway, he will carry out a missed approach,” Singh stated. The eyewitnesses also confirmed that the flight crashed due to a collision with the surface during the landing, adding that the passengers could not be rescued due to the flames.
