CIDCO Housing Scheme: Concerns have been expressed by homebuyers over flats being smaller than the promised size under the City and Industrial Development Corporation's (CIDCO) most recent housing scheme, 'My Preferred Home program', in Navi Mumbai. Although the exorbitant cost of CIDCO houses had already caused applicants to become dissatisfied, additional concerns about differences in the apartments' real carpet area have emerged.
The advertisement said that flats under the program were 322 square feet. However, the size is just 291.92 square feet, according to the Letters of Intent (LOI) that the housing lottery winners received. Customers are now upset because they believe they are not receiving the fullest of what was promised.
Meanwhile, in a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, former MLA and NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Sandeep Naik demands that CIDCO provide homes in the original advertised size.
“CIDCO must ensure that the flats provided match the size mentioned in the original housing scheme documents. Beneficiaries should not be deprived of their rightful carpet area,” Naik stated.
Now, a lot of homebuyers are raising their voices about the problem.
However, CIDCO officials have stressed that the original marketed size includes the balcony space, which is not represented in the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA)-registered carpet area specified in the LOI.
