Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on a lighter note publicly invited Uddhav Thackeray to join the Mahayuti alliance in the state assembly. While pointing out that the BJP will not go out of power till 2029, the chief minister stated that Thackeray can consider joining its old alliance partner. However, Udhhav later clarified that the remarks from the chief minister were on a lighter note and should not be taken seriously. The invitation from Fadnavis came ahead of the much-hyped civic polls amid the ongoing row over the Marathi language. While several leaders have speculated about a possible reunion between BJP and Shiv Sena (UBT), this is the first instance that Fadnavis has discussed the matter in public.

While speaking during the farewell ceremony of Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve, Fadnavis stated that the Shiv Sena leader has always been a supporter of right-wing politics. "Look Uddhav-ji, there is no scope of (our) going there (in the opposition) till 2029... But if you want to come over here, then consider it... it depends on you... it can be considered," Fadnavis stated while addressing Thackeray. "Ambadas Danve may be anywhere (party or opposition) but his real thoughts are right wing," the chief minister added.

The remarks from the chief minister came amid speculations of BJP and Shinde Sena fighting the civic polls separately, reported NDTV. Earlier, while reacting to the violent acts from Shiv Sena's leaders, Fadnavis had stated that no one has a right to take law and order into their own hands. Shinde had also directed the party leaders to stay away from the acts that might affect the party's reputation.
