Halal Lifestyle Township Advertisement: A housing project in Maharashtra’s Neral has stirred controversy after its advertisement was posted on social media by the builder. The real estate project, approximately 100 km from Mumbai, was criticised for being marketed on religious lines as “Halal Lifestyle Township".

Following massive outrage, the builder withdrew the ad from various social media platforms. It was alleged that the project was being marketed as a residential space for a community.

Former National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson Priyank Kanoongo shared the controversial advertisement video on his X handle, captioning it “Nation Within The Nation". Kanoongo also mentioned on X that a notice has been issued to the Maharashtra government.

Meanwhile, All India Muslim Jamaat National President Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi came down heavily over the ad’s marketing and using the term “Halal". He claimed that the usage was an attempt to “spread hatred".

“By using such a name and the word Halal, an attempt is being made to send out a particular kind of message. The builders and people involved in this are not working to unite society, but rather to spread hatred and create division," Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi said, as quoted by IANS.
