Mumbai Local Update: Mumbai’s suburban railway network will be impacted on Sunday, September 7, 2025, with a five-hour block between Santacruz and Goregaon stations. The services will be affected from 10 am to 3 pm, on both UP and DOWN through (fast) lines, affecting thousand of passengers who use these lines to commute.
All fast line trains will run on the slow lines between Goregaon and Santacruz during this time period. Apart from this, several suburban trains will be short-terminated or cancelled on Sunday, causing over-crowding and difficulties during peak hours of movement.
The Jumbo Block is being planned so that important track, Overhead Equipment (OHE) and signalling maintenance works can be done. These works are being done to ensure safe and efficient functioning of the railway network, officials said, as per a TimesNow report.
Authorities have asked commuters to plan their travel in advance to avoid delays. All Station Master offices across the Western Railway network have the list of cancelled or short-terminated trains for passengers to refer to.
In another update, the Mumbai Police on Thursday issued an advisory announcing restrictions and diversions in several parts of the city in view of the large-scale Eid-e-Milad procession scheduled on September 8. The traffic advisory states that a heavy crowd is expected to gather in Mankhurd and Ghatkopar areas, with hundreds of vehicles anticipated to take part in the procession.
Authorities have advised residents to follow the traffic plan and plan their outdoor activities accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
