Mumbai Lalbaugcha Raja Visarjan: The grand immersion procession of the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh idol, marking the culmination of the Ganeshotsav festival, captivated thousands of devotees and spectators in Mumbai on Tuesday. Lalbaugcha Raja departed its pandal in the afternoon following the last aarti on the final day of Ganeshotsav 2024. The immersion of Lalbaugcha Raja signifies the end of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, which began on September 7 and conclude with Anant Chaturdashi today.

The procession, featuring a massive turnout of mandal workers and devotees, will traverse through Lalbaug and Parel, eventually reaching Girgaon Chowpatty for the final visarjan at 6 am on Wednesday.

The procession passed through Parel’s renowned Shroff Chawl, where devotees adhered to tradition by showering the idol with flowers. Major sarnajanik mandals also followed suit, parading their Ganpati idols through Lalbaug, Parel and Girgaon, accompanied by large crowds of followers.

For those unable to attend, the entire immersion ceremony is being live-streamed on Lalbaugcha Raja’s official YouTube Channel, providing a real-time experience of the grand event from the start of the procession to the final rituals.

The immersion processions from different parts of Mumbai such as Fort, Mazgaon, Byculla, Dadar and Chembur made their way toward the Arabian Sea and local water bodies. The processions were accompanied by energetic troupes of drum players, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Over 2,700 Ganesh idols were immersed by Tuesday afternoon in Mumbai.The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that by 3 pm, 1,009 idols were immersed in artificial ponds established to mitigate pollution, while the remaining were immersed in the sea and natural water bodies.

The BMC also promoted eco-friendly celebrations with a QR code system to guide citizens to artificial ponds for immersion. This initiative supports efforts to reduce pollution and protect natural water bodies.
