Mumbai Traffic Advisory 17th September: The 10-day Ganeshotsav will conclude with the immersion of idols on Tuesday, September 17. Mumbai Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory to manage the massive crowds and processions during the immersion of idols. Various diversions and road closures have been planned to facilitate smoother traffic flow.
Key traffic measures include keeping the Coastal Road open for 24 hours until September 18, allowing easier travel between North and South Mumbai. However, authorities recommend using public transport, such as local trains and BEST buses, to avoid congestion on the roads.
Mumbai Traffic Advisory For Ganesh Visarjan 2024
- Coastal Road: Open 24 hours, facilitating travel between North and South Mumbai.
- South Mumbai Closures: Colaba, Nathalal Parekh Marg, Captain Prakash Pethe Marg, Rambhau Salgaonkar Marg closed to vehicles.
- Roads near CSMT and Kalbadevi: Mahapalika Marg, JSS Road, Vitthalbhai Patel Road, Baba Saheb Jaykar Road and others will be closed.
- Heavy Congestion Areas: Girgaon Chowpatty, Cuffe Parade, Badhwar Park, Metro Junction (CSMT), Bhendi Bazaar, Pydhonie, DB Marg and Nagpada.
Mumbai Suburban Traffic Restrictions For Ganesh Visarjan 2024
- Dadar: Hind Mata Junction, Bharat Mata Junction, Parel TT Junction, Ranjit Bidhakar Chowk closed during processions.
- Worli Naka: Dr Annie Besant Road and NM Joshi Marg closed for Lalbaugcha Raja procession.
- Dadar’s Swatantraveer Savarkar Marg: Closed near Siddhivinayak Temple for processions heading to Shivaji Park Chowpatty.
- Kandivali: Restrictions on Damu Anna Date Marg for immersion at Dahanukar Wadi Pool.
- Borivali: LT Road near Don Bosco Junction up to Borivali Jetty Road will be closed for idol immersions.

Railway Overbridge (ROB) Restrictions: 13 ROBs, including Ghatkopar, Currey Road, Byculla, Marine Lines, and Dadar Tilak ROB, will restrict pedestrian crossings to 100 people at a time. Additionally, Dancing and loudspeakers are prohibited on the ROBs for safety reasons.
Mumbai Police have urged residents to follow these guidelines to ensure the smooth conduct of the Ganesh Visarjan processions.
