Maharashtra: Despite multiple written and verbal commitments made to the state’s Assistant Transport Commissioner, ride-hailing platforms like Ola, Uber and Rapido have failed to implement government-approved fares on their apps. Drivers alleged that these companies continue to flout official directives and have pledged to take an oath to vote against the Mahayuti alliance if fair fares are not implemented and bike taxis are not banned by September 30, My Pune Pulse reported.

Continued Non-Compliance By Ride-Hailing Platforms

- The ride-hailing platforms on September 16 again assured the authorities of their compliance.

- However, drivers allege that the companies have not yet updated the official fare structure, deceiving both the government and their own workforce.

- Criticising the Transport Minister for handling the issue, the drivers raised slogans like “Down with the Tesla Minister” during the protest.

Drivers To Take Oath Against Mahayuti Alliance

- The drivers associated with the ride-hailing platforms resolve that if the government-approved fares are not implemented and the bike taxis are not banned by September 30, all drivers across Maharashtra will take an oath to vote against the Mahayuti alliance at 11:00 AM on the same day.

- To raise awareness ahead of this, thousands of rickshaw and taxi drivers will display protest stickers on their vehicles across the state.
