Asaduddin Owaisi's door-to-door campaign as well as the hurt of narrow losses in previous polls galvanised the workers of All India Majlis E Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in the Maharashtra civic elections, resulting in the party winning 114 seats across the state, its leader Shareque Naqshbandi said here on Friday. The AIMIM won 33 seats in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 21 in Malegaon, 15 in Amravati, 13 in Nanded,10 in Dhule, eight in Solapur, six in Mumbai, five in Thane, two in Jalgaon and one in Chandrapur.

The BJP led by former chief minister Ashok Chavan on Friday won the elections to the Nanded-Waghala City Municipal Corporation, a long-time Congress bastion, by winning 45 of the 81 seats, while the AIMIM bagged 15 seats.The Congress, which ruled the civic body in the previous term, managed to win ten and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) five seats.

Despite having two MLAs from the city, the Shiv Sena was restricted to just four seats. The NCP won one seat while one independent candidate also emerged victorious.

Following the BJP's historic victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, MNS chief Raj Thackeray waved to his supporters gathered outside his Mumbai residence. This comes after the BJP emerged as the largest party, ending the nearly three-decade-long dominance of the undivided Shiv Sena in the city’s civic body.,

he Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday won the municipal corporations of Navi Mumbai and Jalgaon while the Congress emerged as the single largest party in Bhiwandi and Kolhapur as the results of 11 of the 29 civic bodies were declared. Elections to these municipal corporations were held on Thursday.

As per the State Election Commission data, the BJP won 65 of the 111 seats in Navi Mumbai. The Shiv Sena won 43, Shiv Sena (UBT) won two seats, while an independent candidate won in one ward.

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar congratulated the victorious candidates in the recent local elections, emphasising that the will of the people is paramount. He assured that those who didn’t achieve success will work harder to regain public trust, with a focus on development and welfare. Pawar also encouraged defeated candidates to stay dedicated to serving the people.

In a setback for the BJP, the Congress on Friday emerged as the single largest party in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation after winning 28 of the 66 seats in the civic elections, even as counting of votes is ongoing.
The Congress and its allies have won 28 seats, the BJP 26, Shiv Sena (UBT) 6, and Independents 2. The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, AIMIM, and BSP bagged one seat each.

Notably, in the 2017 polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party by winning 36 of the 66 seats.

The BJP swept the Jalna civic polls winning 41 out of 65 seats, marking the first time the party has won a majority in the city known for its steel re-rolling, seed and agro industries. Among the more talked about victories from here is that of Shrikant Pangarkar, an accused in the 2017 killing of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh. He won as an independent from electoral ward No. 13 defeating Raosaheb Dhoble of the BJP.

The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena was second with 12 wins. The polls here had turned into a prestige battle between Shiv Sena MLA Arjun Khotkar and his arch rival Kailash Gorantyal, who had joined the BJP from the Congress recently.

The Indian Secular Largest Assembly of Maharashtra (ISLAM) party has emerged as the single largest outfit in Malegaon Municipal Corporation in Nashik district, trends and civic poll results showed on Friday.
It has won 35 out of 84 seats in the civic body, while the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) was in second place with 21 seats. 

The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has got 18 seats, followed by five for the Samajwadi Party and three for the Congress. The Bharatiya Janata Party has been able to win just two seats in the Muslim-dominated powerloom town.

CM Fadnavis stated that the Mahayuti alliance is set to form governments in 25 municipalities, including Mumbai, following the Maharashtra Civic Body Elections 2026.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut cautioned against premature conclusions on Maharashtra civil poll results, highlighting that full counting is still underway, particularly in key areas like Bhandup-Vikhroli and Bandra. He dismissed circulated figures as false, noting final results are expected by midnight.,

BJP's Swarada Bapat expressed her happiness after winning the Pune ward, thanking the party for giving young candidates like her the opportunity. She described it as a proud moment for their team and a step towards representing fresh voices.,

The BJP has surged ahead of the NCP-NCP (SP) combine, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his uncle Sharad Pawar, in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad corporations, according to trends and results of the civic elections so far on Friday. The BJP has won 29 electoral wards and is leading in 43 others in Pune, as per the data shared by the election department of the civic body.

The Nationalist Congress Party and the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) are a distant second, winning three and two seats, respectively, so far, in the 165-member Pune civic body. The trends show the NCP is leading in seven wards, and the NCP (SP) in one ward.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday congratulated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde as well as party workers as trends showed the BJP-Shiv Sena were set to win comfortably in most of the 29 municipal corporations where votes are being counted, including the country's financial capital Mumbai.
Maharashtra's journey towards progress will gain even more strength under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he said.

The trend of the vote counting in the high-stakes BMC elections showed that the union of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) supremo Raj Thackeray, after two decades, did not influence the voters in the financial capital of India. Shrikant Pangarkar, an accused in the 2017 killing of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh, on Friday won as a corporator from the Jalna Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra. Counting of votes for 29 civic bodies in Maharashtra, which went to polls a day before, is currently underway.

Pangarkar had contested as an Independent candidate from electoral ward No. 13. He defeated his nearest rival, Raosaheb Dhoble of the BJP. Pangarkar secured 2,661 votes, while Dhoble polled 2,477 votes.

A total of 65 candidates from ten municipal corporations in Maharashtra were declared elected unopposed ahead of elections held on January 15, the State Election Commission (SEC) said on Friday. The data was shared on a day when the counting of votes for 29 civic bodies, which went to polls on Thursday, was underway. The BJP topped the list of unopposed candidates with 43, followed by ally Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena (18 candidates), the Nationalist Congress Party (2), an Independent, and a candidate of the Indian Secular Largest Assembly of Maharashtra.

Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Friday stated that the BJP was heading towards a majority in the Maharashtra civic polls and expressed confidence that the party-led Mahayuti coalition would secure a two-thirds majority.

“The people of Maharashtra have voted for development,” he said. As per trends in 210 of 227 wards, the BJP and its ally Shiv Sena were leading in the high-stakes Mumbai municipal corporation elections, with the BJP also ahead in several other civic bodies.

Bawankule added that, based on the trends, the BJP would hit the majority mark with a “51 percent vote share.” He further stated that Mahayuti is poised to secure a two-thirds majority. The BJP is performing very well in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation poll, he said, adding that people have voted for the vision of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for the city's development.

BJP candidate Tejasvi Ghosalkar won the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election, defeating her nearest rival Dhanashree Vilas Kolge of the Shiv Sena (UBT).Whereas Ghosalkar secured 16,484 votes who was contesting from ward number 2 in Dahisar, while Kolge polled 5,729 votes, officials said. Her victory margin stood at 10,755 votes.

In ward number 1 in the western suburb of Dahisar, Rekha Yadav of Shiv Sena secured 7,544 votes, trouncing Sheetal Mhatre of the Congress, who got 5,070 votes. She was declared the winner with a margin of around 2,500 votes.

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar expressed gratitude to Mumbai voters for their support of the BJP alliance, emphasising that the mandate reflects the city's desire for development. He highlighted key projects like the Metro Rail Network, Coastal Road, and Trans Harbour Link as central to the alliance's commitment. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, regarded as one of the wealthiest after the BMC, had been under the control of Sharad Pawar’s undivided NCP since 2017. Despite an intense campaign by the Pawars, they have now lost this stronghold.

Ajit Pawar's faction of the NCP is leading in 33 wards, while Sharad Pawar's faction is ahead in only one ward. In contrast, the BJP is leading in 86 wards.

The poll body said on Friday said that a voter turnout of 54.77 per cent was recorded in the elections held for 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra a day before, with the newly-formed Ichalkaranji civic body logging the highest polling percentage at 69.76 per cent.

Mumbai recorded a voter turnout of 52.94 per cent, according to data shared by the State Election Commission. At 48.64 per cent, the Mira-Bhayandar civic body recorded the lowest polling percentage in the state.

Counting of votes for the elections is currently underway.

The BJP was leading on 84 seats, while the Congress was ahead on 41 in polls to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) where counting is underway since Friday morning. Polling for the 151-member civic body was held on Thursday along with 28 other municipal corporations in Maharashtra.

Four candidates from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) are also leading in Nagpur, where a four-member panel system is in place. Under the system, each panel consisted of four wards.

According to official results, Tejasvi Ghosalkar of the BJP emerged victorious in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election from Ward No. 2 in Dahisar.,

The Mahayuti alliance had 47 BJP candidates, 23 from Shiv Sena (Shinde), and five from the NCP group led by Ajit Pawar from Jalgaon. The BJP has won 45 seats so far, but two seats are still being counted. The Shinde Sena has won 22 seats and may lose one. The Ajit Pawar group has won all five of its contests.

According to early trends, the BJP and the Shiv Sena are together leading on 37 seats. Meanwhile, the MNS and Uddhav Sena are ahead by nearly 10 seats.

Early trends from the Maharashtra civic elections underline the BJP’s clear dominance as counting progresses. With leads in 903 seats out of 1,752 declared, the party has emerged well ahead of all competitors, reinforcing its strong grip over urban and semi-urban local bodies.

Shiv Sena stands a distant second with 219 seats, followed closely by the Congress at 194, indicating a tight contest for the second spot rather than a challenge to the BJP.

Shiv Sena (UBT) is leading in 94 seats, while the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) has 108 leads, showing a fragmented opposition space.

Other parties such as AIMIM (40), VBA (17), NCP (SP) (16), and MNS (10) have made limited gains, while 143 seats are led by other candidates. Overall, the trends point to a decisive BJP advantage, with opposition votes split across multiple parties.

Shiv Sena’s Dheeraj Kaltri defeats BJP’s Sheetalkumar Navale in Dhule Ward 17. Dheeraj Kaltri of the Shiv Sena (Shinde) defeated Sheetalkumar Navale of the BJP, who used to be the chairperson of the Standing Committee. Kaltri got 5,576 votes and Navale got 4,943. Kaltri has won by 633 votes.

 Maharashtra minister Sanjay Shirsat stated, “Today is the day of vote counting. In Mulund Ward 103, Hetal Gala Marvekar of the BJP won with 17,334 votes, defeating Deepti Panchal (MNS) with 5,205 votes and Manisha Sonawane (Congress) with 3,786 votes, winning by a margin of 12,129 votes.

As per the latest trends in the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation elections, vote counting, the BJP is leading by over 500 seats. It is also ahead in the majority of civic bodies, including Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Mumbai. BJP is leading with 10 seats in Nashik, 100 seats in Nagpur and 17 seats in BMC.

After Congress's candidate registration victory in Dharavi's ward number 183, Rekha Ram Yadav of Shiv Sena (Shinde) has been declared winner in Ward 1, securing 7,544 votes.

 The early trends for the recently concluded Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections show the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in 38 seats in the city, which saw the Pawar family come together to contest together, as per ANI.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 48 of 165 wards in Pune, while NCP (Ajit Pawar) is leading in 14 wards.

According to BMC officials, Asha Deepak Kale from Congress has been declared as the winner in Dharavi’s Ward number 183, registering victory with a margin of over 1400 votes.

According to the very early trends coming in, the BJP-led Mahayuti leads on 370 wards in Maharashtra. While the BJP has an edge in 297 wards, the Shiv Sena is leading in 73 wards.

As the vote counting for 29 municipal corporations across the state has begun, all eyes are on the results of the high-stakes BMC, which is India's richest municipal corporation. 

The vote counting for the Maharashtra Municipal election results has begun across all 29 municipal corporations. The result will be declared once counting is concluded.

- Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation: 57.71 per cent

- Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation: 57.15 per cent

Ahead of the Maharashtra civic body results to be declared today, the All India Majlis-e-Ittahadul Muslimeen is confident of securing a big win in BMC. The party spokesperson, Waris Pathan, on Thursday expressed confidence about his party's prospects in the civic body elections in Mumbai.

Pune Municipal Corporation registered a marginal decline in voter turnout as the civic body recorded 54.50 per cent voter turnout, slightly lower than what it registered in the previous poll nine years ago at 55.56. 

For the first time, the process of vote counting is to begin without the release of officials poll percentage as the Maharashtra Election Commission has released the data of the exact poll percentage across 29 municipal corporations. The vote counting will begin at 10 am today. 

Elections for the Pune Municipal Corporation and 28 other civic bodies across Maharashtra took place on Thursday, January 15. The result is expected to be declared by evening today, as the counting will begin at 10 am. The final results can be accessed via the official website of pmc.gov.in.

The counting process will take place under strict scrutiny and adherence of Election Commission's guidelines. Security deployments and other arrangements have been bolstered to ensure smooth and impartial conduct of the process.  The BMC, in its statement on Thursday, said that a detailed plan for counting process has been shared by the Election Commission.

Mahayuti is likely to get 138 seats, while the Uddhav and Raj Thackeray alliance is expected to get 59 seats, said JVC exit polls. As per this exit poll, Mahayuti is likely to secure 44 per cent of the vote share. The JVC Exit Poll result further projected 23 seats for Congress and 7 for others.

As per the predictions of the Shakal Exit Polls, the BJP-led Mahayuti will emerge as the single largest bloc with 119 seats out of the total 227-member civic body. The Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS alliance is expected to put up a strong show with 75 seats. Congress is projected to secure 20 seats, with 14 seats going to other parties.

According to the exit poll of Axis My India, the BJP-led Mahayuti Alliance is projected to secure nearly 42 per cent vote share, followed by the Shiv Sena (UBT)-led alliance at 32 per cent. The exit poll results also predicted Congress and others at 13 per cent each.
