A woman has accused a security officer of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University in Wardha, Maharashtra, of assaulting her in broad daylight. The victim, identified as biker Ruchika Thakare, filed a complaint against Sudhir Kharkate at Ramnagar Police Station, alleging physical assault and threats.

The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, has sparked public outrage. The footage reportedly shows Kharkate and his wife hurling offensive language and physically attacking Ruchika.

Ruchika stated that on January 17, Kharkate deliberately drove his car into her motorcycle while she stood beside it, causing her to fall. Bystanders helped her, but the confrontation escalated when Kharkate allegedly threatened her. His wife reportedly joined in, leading to a verbal altercation. The situation worsened as Kharkate allegedly drove the car over Ruchika’s feet.

Students of the university have reacted strongly, submitting a formal complaint to the vice-chancellor and demanding Kharkate’s immediate suspension. 

Adding to the controversy, Ruchika alleged that after filing the complaint, a relative of the accused approached her family, pressuring them to withdraw the case.
