The talks for the ministry allocation have not reached their final stage yet in Maharashtra, as the leaders of the Mahayuti alliance are still not sure about the home portfolio. The Shiv Sena, led by Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, stated that Shinde has demanded the home portfolio from the BJP.

Shiv Sena MLA Bharat Gogavale said that the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP leaders are holding several meetings to distribute the ministries among them. The Raigad MLA said that even the then deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, had the home ministry when Eknath Shinde was the chief minister of the state. “When Fadnavis was the deputy CM (in the previous Shinde-led government), he also held the home department. Now, Saheb has demanded the same arrangement, and talks (on portfolio allocation) are in progress,” Gogavale was quoted as saying by PTI.

We hope the talks on portfolios will be over in the next two days,” he added.

However, the Shiv Sena leaders convinced him to accept the offer, but Shinde is adamant about the home department. The Mahayuti alliance registered a remarkable victory in the recently concluded Assembly polls of Maharashtra.
