A 20-year-old man was beaten, shot, and had his head crushed with a stone in Nanded, Maharashtra, after his girlfriend’s brother attacked him. What shocked many was that at the funeral, his girlfriend applied vermilion to her forehead and vowed to live in his home as his wife.
The woman, named Aanchal, and her boyfriend, Saksham Tate, had met through her brothers and grew closer over time with frequent visits to his house. Their three-year relationship had recently faced opposition from her family, who disapproved of the union due to differences in caste. Despite the ongoing threats, Aanchal chose to continue her relationship with Tate.
According to NDTV report, When her brothers and father discovered that Aanchal intended to marry Tate, they attacked him on November, 27 shot him in the head, and crushed his skull with a stone.
During the funeral rites, Aanchal arrived at Tate’s home, applied turmeric to his body, placed vermilion (sindoor) on her forehead, and married the body of her deceased boyfriend. She then declared her decision to remain in his house for the rest of her life as his wife.

“Our love triumphed, even in Saksham’s death, and my father and brothers were defeated,” she said, calling for the death penalty for those responsible for Tate’s murder. Aanchal insisted that their love would endure, even though Tate was no longer alive.
The police have filed charges against six individuals under various sections of the law and have made arrests.
