A man in Maharashtra’s Palghar district raped and killed a minor girl, who was his fiancée, after she refused to establish a physical relationship with him. According to officials, the incident occurred on Wednesday when the accused Nilesh visited his minor fiancée’s home in Bibaldhar village.

As per the statement given by eyewitnesses, Nilesh visited his fiancée’s home in the afternoon when the girl’s parent had gone to their farm. The accused insisted on forming an intimate relationship, but the girls resisted and refused to establish physical intimacy.

The man, losing his senses to rage after the girl denied physical access, raped and strangled her, police said. The accused immediately fled to the forest near the village.

The girl’s parents found her dead on their return from the farm field in the evening. The police arrested the accused soon after the victim’s father filed a complaint. A NDTV report further added that the accused was sent for police custody while the girl’s body was sent for a post-mortem.

 In another but similarly deeply disturbing case, a 15-year-old rape survivor was sent back to live in the house of her accused rapist, only to be sexually assaulted again. The incident took place in Madhya Pradesh, and the decision was taken by local child welfare authorities in Chhatarpur, triggering outrage among netizens.

An FIR was filed against 10 individuals, including members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), its chairman, senior district officials, and others, for bypassing mandatory legal procedures that are meant to protect minors in such sensitive situations.
