Maharashtra CNG Prices: The Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has revised prices of  CNG and piped cooking gas on Sunday. The CNG will be available at Rs 76 per kg while domestic PNG will be available at Rs 47 in the Mumbai metropolitan region from Monday. Domestic piped cooking gas prices were reduced by Rs 2 per unit and CNG prices were reduced by Rs 3 per kg in the Mumbai metropolitan region, which include Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai.

This will relieve more than 10 lakh CNG vehicle users in Mumbai among which four lakh are private car owners and public transport like autos, taxis and buses. The new rates will also provide relief to auto-taxi and school bus drivers.

A spokesperson said the reduction in price of domestically produces natural gas by central government has led to the reduction in rates          

"MGL has always been a customer-friendly company, consistently and promptly passing reduction in gas costs to its consumers to promote usage of natural gas. Our CNG now offers attractive savings of more than 50 per cent compared to petrol and almost 20 per cent  compared to diesel at current price levels in Mumbai. MGL's domestic piped gas is at current MRP is cheaper than domestic LPG offering households convenience, safety, reliability, and environmental friendliness," the Times of India cited a spokesperson as saying.

The CNG price reached its all-time high last year with being sold at Rs 89.50 per kg, which resulted in increased fares of autos and taxis in the Mumbai metropolitan region in 2022.
