Maharashtra Weather Update: The Maharashtra Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 19 districts on September 24, 2025, warning of heavy rain with strong winds and thunderstorms. An orange alert has been issued for Mumbai on September 27, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad.
The state is expected to witness continued heavy rains over the next few days, with the next 24 hours being crucial for Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra, where intense showers are likely.
Maharashtra Districts Weather Forecast
1. Konkan & Mumbai Region: Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, and Raigad are expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds, prompting a yellow alert. Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg may receive moderate rainfall.
2. Western Maharashtra: Pune, Pune Ghats, and Solapur are likely to experience rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds. Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and the ghats of Satara and Kolhapur may see light to moderate rainfall.
3. Marathwada: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv are under a yellow alert for thunderstorms with strong winds. Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded could receive light to moderate rainfall.
4. North Maharashtra: Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon are likely to get light to moderate rain. Nashik, Nashik Ghats, and Ahilyanagar may experience thunderstorms, triggering a yellow alert in these areas.
5. Vidarbha: Most districts, including Akola, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Wardha, and Washim, are expected to remain dry. Amaravati and Yavatmal may see thunderstorms with gusty winds, while Gadchiroli and Gondia could receive heavy rainfall with lightning, leading to a yellow alert in these districts.
Mumbai Weather Forecast
1. According to the IMD, rain in Mumbai is expected to remain light to moderate on September 24 and 25.
2. Some parts of the city may experience thunderstorms during this period.
3. As the week progresses, the intensity of the rainfall is forecasted to rise significantly.
4. Weather experts indicate that a system over the Bay of Bengal is likely to drift northwestwards over Maharashtra.
5. Depending on its path, Mumbai and adjoining areas could experience heavy rainfall between September 27 and 29.
According to the latest forecast, coastal regions, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada, North Maharashtra, and parts of Vidarbha may witness thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that most areas of the state could experience cloudy skies, heavy rainfall, and lightning on September 24.
