Maharashtra Weather Update: As per the State Emergency Operations Center, Maharashtra, a red alert has been issued on Friday in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Gondia, Chandrapur, Bhandara and Gadchiroli districts as well as in the Pune Ghat and Satara Ghat areas for heavy rain.

Additionally, the Indian National Ocean Information Service Centre has issued a warning for 4.1 to 4.8 metre high waves for the coasts of Mumbai city and Mumbai suburbs, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts from 05.30 pm on July 25 to 08.30 pm on July 27, 2025. During this period, small boats have been advised not to venture into the sea.

Which Maharashtra Districts Are On Alert?

Yellow Alert - Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Kolhapur Ghat, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Washim, and Yavatmal.

Red Alert - Raigad, Ratnagiri, Gondia, Chandrapur, Bhandara and Gadchiroli districts as well as Pune Ghat and Nashik Ghat.

Orange Alert - Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara Ghat, Nagpur, and Wardha.

While a red alert implies the most severe "take action" warning, while orange and yellow alerts suggest "be prepared to take action" and “be aware”, respectively.

Heavy Rain To Lash Mumbai

Heavy rain lashed Mumbai on Friday morning, slowing down vehicular traffic and affecting some suburban train services on the Western Railway, officials said. More rain expected to drench the city in the evening, they said. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast "heavy to very heavy" rain in the metropolis in the next 24 hours, prompting police to appeal to the public not to venture out.
