Mumbai Weather: Why Is It Raining In Summers

Rainfall in Mumbai is likely to ease the ongoing heat. According to the IMD, these pre-monsoon showers are being caused by a low-level western disturbance and an interaction between westerly and easterly winds that is increasing moisture in the atmosphere.

The Hindustan Times report cited Sushma Nair, scientist at IMD Mumbai, as explaining that these early showers are usual for this time of year. Although parts of interior Maharashtra recorded light rainfall recently, Mumbai did not receive any showers on Monday. However, the weather remained cloudy and humidity levels were high.
