Mumbai News: The RCF Police Station in Mumbai has arrested seven Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly living in the country without valid documents for the past five years. The group, which includes three men and four women, was detained in Mahul village, Chembur, on Friday.

Those arrested are Sohang Ashir Mulla (26), Zahidul Islam Imul (26), Noyam Afzal Hussain Sheikh (25), Alamin Sheikh (23), Suma Jahigir Alam Tutul (24), Tawmina Akhtar Raju (35) and Salma Moksad Ali (35). According to police officials, the individuals admitted that they had been residing in India illegally since March 2020. They have been charged under various laws, including the Foreigners Act and the Passport Act. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

In a separate incident, Meghalaya Police apprehended nine Bangladeshi nationals on Tuesday night for illegally entering India. The arrests took place during a routine check in the West Garo Hills district near the Indo-Bangladesh border. The individuals were found travelling in a van and authorities seized 12 mobile phones, Indian currency, Aadhaar cards, and other incriminating documents from them. Two vehicles used for transportation were also confiscated, and three Indian facilitators who aided their illegal entry were arrested.

Additionally, the Border Security Force (BSF) reported that some Bangladeshi individuals crossed the border near Malikpur in the Dakshin Dinajpur district to engage in smuggling and robbery activities.
