Mumbai Airport Closed Tomorrow: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will remain shut for 6 hours on Thursday as it is set to hold its annual pre-monsoon maintenance work. The airport will remain closed for 6 hours from 11 am to 5 pm due to the scheduled maintenance work tomorrow. 

Mumbai airport authorities informed about the shutdown and said that both runways will remain out of service. The Mumbai airport wrote, "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has scheduled its annual pre-monsoon runway maintenance on 8 May, between 1100 hrs and 1700 hrs. During this time, both the primary runway 09/27 and secondary runway 14/32 will be temporarily non-operational."

CSMIA has coordinated with various airlines and aviation authorities to minimise disruptions. The airlines and aviation authorities have been informed in advance to cause minimal inconvenience. Passengers can expect timely updates on their travel plans from their respective airlines.

Indigo informed the Passengers about the changes in the schedule through an X-post. “On May 8, runways at Mumbai airport will remain closed for essential pre-monsoon maintenance for the day," IndiGo said, as it added that there have been some changes in the flight schedule. 

Similar advisories have been issued by other airlines like Akasa and SpiceJet for the passenger schedule to travel on Thursday. 

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is one of the busiest airports in India. It handled about 54.8 million passengers in 2024. It is the second busiest airport in India after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI).
