Bengaluru Namma Metro Ticket Machine: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has launched a QR code ticket vending machine at Byappanahalli metro station to enhance the convenience of metro rides in Bengaluru and make it time-efficient.

Aimed at streamlining the ticketing process, the self-service kiosks will dispense paper tickets embedded with QR codes.

The BMRCL has upgraded its ticketing system by installing a self-service ticket machine at Byappanahalli Station after the successful pilot launch of similar machines at MG Road and Cubbon Park stations on the Purple Line. Similar green coloured machines have been launched at Byappanahalli station as well.

Namma Metro Will Install More Ticket Vending Machines

According to a report by the Times of India, quoting a BMRCL official, similar machines will be installed in several other stations in the coming days. The official said, ‘this initiative is introduced for passenger convenience. At Baiyappanahalli, 10 machines have been installed. Now, on pilot basis, passengers have started using them. In the coming days, even other Metro stations will have them."

The official said that soon, BMRCL will come out with instructions on using the self-service ticket machines. The QR ticket dispensed from the vending machine displays the validity of the ticket, including the date and time.

BMRCL introduced India's first QR-code ticketing system in Nov 2022, offering discounts and instant success.

In February, BMRCL discontinued the discount applicable on QR-based tickets and increased the fare. Even for the QR paper ticket purchased using the new machine, passengers must pay the fare on par with the token fare.
