The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has asked residents of Kurla to purify the water before consumption by filtering and boiling it for three to four days starting Monday, as the civic body switches the water supply from one reservoir tank to another for repairs.
The corporation plans to begin the repair work on Poweai reservoir’s compartment No. 1 after completing the maintenance work on compartment No. 2.
The water supply for those in the L and S wards, the water supply will be shifted on Monday, June 23. The civic body speculated that water may get contaminated during the process and has asked the residents to ensure the purity of water by taking extra precautions like filtering and boiling the water.
The areas that will be affected in the L ward, north of Kurla, are the 90 feet Kurla-Andheri road, Saki Vihar, Satyanagar pipeline road, Ghatkopar-Andheri road, Mahatma Phule Nagar, and Jarimari, among others. In the south of Kurla, Kajupada, Shastri Nagar, Ghas Compound, Kranti Nagar, LBS Marg, and LIG-MIG Colony will be affected.
Areas of Morarji Nagar, Paspoli Village, and Lok Vihar Colony will be affected in the S ward.

Powai Lake Overflow
The Powai lake in Mumbai started overflowing on Wednesday morning after heavy rain lashed the area. The water of the lake, with a capacity of 545 crore litre, is used for industrial purposes.
