The collapse involved the balcony and slab portions of the second and third floors, as well as parts of the upper four-story structure. One woman was declared dead at a local hospital, while 13 others were treated for injuries sustained during the collapse.
"The balcony portion and slab portion of the second and third floors, plus the upper four-story structure, had partially collapsed, and some portions were hanging precariously," BMC stated.
The building was reportedly declared dangerous a few months ago and had received a notice from MHADA. Meanwhile, Heavy rains have been affecting Mumbai and adjoining areas since early morning. Continuous rain across Maharashtra has exacerbated the situation, leading to such incidents.
