In a post on X, MGL announced that the supply from GAIL to its City Gate Station (CGS) in Wadala had been restored. “The rectification work of GAIL's damaged main gas pipeline in RCF Trombay premises has been completed, and gas supply to MGL's City Gate Station (CGS), Wadala by GAIL has been restored. The gas supply to the affected CNG stations in Mumbai, Thane & Navi Mumbai has been restored,” the company said.

Mahanagar Gas also thanked consumers for their patience. “We are thankful to our esteemed customers for their co-operation,” it added.
What Led To The CNG Shortage?
Mumbai had been experiencing long queues at CNG stations since Monday after a major disruption in gas supply. Autorickshaw and taxi drivers waited for hours as many pumps across the city remained shut due to low pressure.
According to earlier reports, the issue began when GAIL’s main gas pipeline inside the Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF) complex was damaged. This pipeline supplies compressed natural gas to MGL’s Wadala CGS, which is a key entry point for natural gas coming into Mumbai.
MGL had earlier said, “Due to damage to the main gas pipeline inside RCF compound, the gas supply to MGL’s City Gate Station (CGS) at Wadala has been affected.” The company also assured that domestic piped natural gas (PNG) supply was being prioritised to avoid interruption.
Mumbai has around 130–140 CNG outlets, many operated by MGL and several were out of service on Monday due to the reduced gas pressure.
