Mumbai Police filed a case against some identified persons after a YouTuber alleged that someone illegally got CCTV footage installed in his home and shared the private video on social media platforms.

This came after a 21-year-old, who lives in Bandra, informed the police that a video showing him without clothes went viral on social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Telegram, which he was told about by his friends, according to an official cited by PTI.

According to the first information report registered by the Bandra police last week, the video shows the YouTuber coming out of his bathroom naked.

The footage is from November 17 and it was captured by a CCTV camera installed in his home. The footage was illegally accessed by someone, who later shared it on the internet, and told the YouTuber to the police.

The said footage also contained the nude' videos of the influencer’s mother and his sister. A request has also been made to take the videos down from social media, as per the reports, according to reports.

A case has been filed under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including 500 (defamation), and the Information Technology Act, the official said, adding that investigations are underway.

The cyber team is reportedly trying to find out the IP address through which the cameras were hacked.

"The unknown person has gained illegal access to the CCTV camera that is installed in my bedroom. The video has gone viral after the person shared it on Instagram, Telegram, and other social media platforms,” read the YouTuber’s complaint."
