Mumbai will see five consecutive days of high tide from today, June 24, with waves anticipated to exceed 4.5 metres. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has released a thorough advice and tidal calendar for the 2025 monsoon season, asking residents to avoid the shoreline during high tide times.
According to the BMC Disaster Management Department, the city would experience 19 high tides between June and September 2025. These high tides occur when sea waves exceed 4.5 metres, bringing concerns of coastal flooding, waterlogging in low-lying regions, and unsafe conditions on beaches and promenades.
The season's greatest tide is predicted to occur on June 26 at 12:55 PM, with waves as high as 4.75 m. Wave heights during this five-day stretch of high tide, which runs from June 24 to June 28, range from 4.59 to 4.75 metres.
Residents and visitors have been advised by the BMC to stay away from seaside locations during high tide, including Marine Drive, Juhu Beach, Worli Seaface, and other coastal regions. Coastal residents and fishermen have also been urged by authorities to remain vigilant and pay attention to real-time updates from government organisations.
Key High Tide Dates In 2025
June 24–28: Consecutive high tides up to 4.75 metres
July 24–27: Wave heights between 4.57 and 4.67 metres
August 10–12 & 23–24: Moderate high tides around 4.5–4.58 metres
September 8–11: Multiple tides, highest being 4.63 metres on Sept 9
BMC representatives emphasised that warning signs and preventative barriers will be erected in susceptible areas. Additionally, civic disaster teams will be available to respond to any crises. For notifications, the public is encouraged to monitor BMC's social media accounts and local news updates.
