Mumbai Weather: Mumbai residents won't be getting any respite from the rain anytime soon, as Tuesday is expected to bring severe downpours. The city is under a yellow alert for today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Several low-lying regions of the city were flooded as a result of Monday night's heavy rains. In a few places, the rains also caused traffic jams. Residents have been advised by the authorities to remain vigilant and make appropriate travel plans.
Heavy rainfall has continued to lash the Konkan coast and several parts of western Maharashtra over the past few days. On Monday, intense showers were recorded in multiple districts, with Pune and Raigad among the worst affected.
In Pune, after two days of light drizzle, the city witnessed heavy rainfall on Monday morning, bringing a significant change in weather conditions. Raigad district also experienced a downpour late at night and into the early morning hours. The rain, accompanied by strong winds, impacted several talukas including Alibag, Murud, Pen, Mangaon, and Roha.
As a result of the heavy rain, waterlogging has been reported in low-lying areas, disrupting road traffic in some parts. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Raigad district, urging residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
