Mumbai Local Train Update:  Mumbaikars are likely to experience significant disruption this weekend as the Central Railway (CR) has announced a 14-hour 30-minute megablock on the Harbour Line. The disruption scheduled to begin on Saturday night and continue through most of Sunday is necessary to facilitate the construction of an elevated Harbour Line station at Kurla.

The 14-hour 30-minute megablock will enable track diversion and realignment work between the Kurla and Tilak Nagar stations, Times Now reported. The realignment is required to lay advanced tracks for the upcoming elevated Kurla Harbour Line.

“CR is planning to align and transfer the advanced track westwards to take forward the new station work. The advanced station at Kurla, which is part of the fifth and sixth lines, will not only handle regular train traffic but also serve as a terminal for local trains,” Times Now quoted a senior railway official as saying.
